President and founder of Roberto Artavia International Consulting; President of Viva Trust, the largest productive-philanthropic trust serving Latin America and of Viva Idea Foundation, an organization for knowledge management in strategy, leadership, social responsibility and sustainable development.

He is Chairman of the Board of Directors of INCAE Business School; Chairman of the Board of Directors of Fundación Marviva; Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mapfre in Costa Rica and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Fundación Victoria in Nicaragua.

He is the author of several books and academic articles focused on development measurement, sustainable development, regional integration, competitive strategy, corporate governance, social responsibility and agribusiness. He was a columnist for El Financiero for more than 10 years.

D. from Harvard Business School (1992); MBA from INCAE Business School (1982) and Naval Mechanical Engineer from United States Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point (1980). Married to Marcella Cuadra Miranda for 39 years, he has 3 children and four grandchildren. He resides in Costa Rica.

Roberto Artavia is a Director of Industrias Cerveceras Centroamericanas, S.A. and his company Compañía Cervecera de Nicaragua, as well as Chairman of the Audit and Risk Committee of Corporación Castillo Hermanos in Guatemala; he is also a member of the boards of directors of Fundación Saprissa, Fundación Gente, Club de Investigación Tecnológica, and Asociación Horizonte Positivo, among others. He was Director of Copa Airlines, where he also chaired the Audit Committee and was a member of its Governance Committee; and was Director and Chairman of the Audit Committee of the World Resources Institute in Washington, D.C.; he was also Director and member of the Boards of Directors of Diebold, Inc. in the United States and Masisa, S.A. in Chile, as well as member of their respective Audit and Risk Committees; both companies are listed on the stock exchange of their respective countries.

Former Rector of INCAE Business School, Founding Director of the Latin American Center for Competitiveness and Sustainable Development, and former Vice President of CINDE, Costa Rica's investment promotion agency. He was Founder and Vice President of the Social Progress Imperative, the organization that publishes the Social Progress Index worldwide.

He has served as advisor and consultant to dozens of non-profit organizations including Fundación Acción Joven in Costa Rica; Fundación Paraguaya, FUNDESA in Guatemala, the Institute for Liberty and Democracy in Peru; FUSADES in El Salvador; UCCAEP in Costa Rica; the Panama Canal Authority and the Panama Transparency Commission (Panama Papers Commission); FIDE and COHEP in Honduras; Fedepricap at the Central American regional level, and ORREDES in Northwest Argentina, among many others. He was an advisor to the Costa Rican Tourism Institute and the National Chamber of Tourism in the formulation and deployment of Costa Rica's national tourism strategy for more than 20 years; he has advised the Government of Paraguay, especially its Secretariat of Planning and the Ministries of Economy and Commerce, Finance and Labor, Employment and Social Security in the articulation and deployment of the National Development Plan 2030.

He has been a consultant to governments and integration organizations in Central America, Southeast Asia (Cambodia, Vietnam, Philippines, and Thailand) on competitiveness and development issues; and to several Latin American governments on competitive strategy, innovation, tourism, and/or investment attraction.

In the business field he has been a consultant to companies in all nations of the Central American region and several in South America, including CODACA-Grupo Hino, Grupo Pellas in Nicaragua, Grupo Condor in Paraguay, Purdy Motor, Grupo Nación, Alimentos Pro-Salud, Mercado de Valores de Costa Rica, ILG Logistics, America Free Trade Zone, Auto Mercado, Zona Franca del Coyol, Garnier&Garnier, and many others.

Enrique Bolaños es el actual rector de INCAE Business School desde el año 2015.

El enfoque de Enrique durante su rectoría ha sido garantizar la excelencia académica, logrando que INCAE sea considerada entre las mejores escuelas de negocios en Latinoamérica. INCAE es una de las pocas escuelas en el mundo que ha obtenido la triple corona de acreditación de las agencias AACSB, AMBA y EQUIS, y también está acreditada por SACS.

Igualmente, bajo su liderazgo se han fortalecido relaciones con algunas de las más prestigiosas escuelas de negocios en Estados Unidos. Con Yale y Michigan para ofrecer programas de maestría de doble titulación, con la Universidad de Virginia y Babson College como aliados en maestrías y programas ejecutivos, además del sólido vínculo que se sigue manteniendo con Harvard Business School, escuela fundadora de INCAE.

En los últimos años se ha hecho un esfuerzo en ampliar la facultad de INCAE, lo que ha aportado a la diversidad de género y nacionalidades. A la vez se ha renovado el pensum académico de las maestrías respondiendo a las demandas del futuro, y también se llevó a cabo un proceso de modernización de la infraestructura e incorporación de las últimas tendencias de tecnología en el instituto.

Durante su gestión, INCAE ha establecido una provechosa alianza con Emeritus, la reconocida plataforma global de educación online, que permitió el lanzamiento, en 2020, de INCAE Online, justo a tiempo para enfrentar los desafíos que impuso la pandemia por COVID-19. Como una muestra de su interés por seguir innovando, en 2021 se lanzaron el Master in Analytics, Innovation and Technology, el Master in Agribusiness en alianza con el Zamorano, y a inicios de 2022 se lanza el primer MBA Online de INCAE.

Con el objetivo de aportar a la misión de INCAE de contribuir al desarrollo sostenible de la región latinoamericana, Enrique ha liderado iniciativas trascendentales con los centros de impacto del instituto. El Centro Latinoamericano de Competitividad y Desarrollo Sostenible (CLACDS), es socio del Foro Económico Mundial, y socio regional de la organización Social Progress Imperative, utilizando el Índice de Progreso Social en Latinoamérica como herramienta para mejorar el bienestar de la población. Por su parte, el Latin American Center for Entrepreneurs (LACE) fomenta el emprendimiento en la región, y junto con el Centro de Liderazgo Inclusivo y Sostenible (CELIS), ha supervisado la creación de distintos proyectos, entre ellos LEADS Mujer, un programa que dota a mujeres emprendedoras en Centroamérica con entrenamiento, mentorías, mejores prácticas y herramientas para hacer crecer sus negocios.

Anteriormente, tuvo más de 30 años de carrera internacional viviendo en Estados Unidos, México, Colombia, y finalizando su carrera como CEO de Flexsys en Bruselas, Bélgica. Lideró exitosamente la compañía a través de un difícil clima de negocios y la convirtió en la empresa líder en la industria de aditivos para caucho. Tiene un título de Ingeniero Industrial por la Universidad de Michigan (1972) y obtuvo una Maestría en Administración de Empresas de INCAE Business School (1974).

Camelia Ilie is an entrepreneurial leader, advisor and professor with more than 25 years of experience in value creation, strategy, innovation and P&L management in organizations in Europe, Latin America and the U.S. She is Dean of Strategy and Institutional Affairs, Chair of the Leadership Center and Professor at INCAE, a leading business school in Latin America. During the last decade, together with an excellent team of leaders, they transformed Executive Education's business model to position it in the Top 25 of the Financial Times world ranking. In addition, they created an online education start-up, in alliance with Emeritus, a world leader in educational technology. Up to 6,500 participants from more than 15 countries studied annually in the areas he has led.

He leads programs for presidents, CEOs and boards of directors to help them improve their governance systems, focusing on competitiveness, strategy, change management, succession planning, digital transformation and innovation. She has also worked with leading corporations such as Banco Santander, Gas Natural, Iberdrola, PWC, Inter-American Development Bank, Bankinter, Telefónica, Iberia, Maersk, Copa Airlines, on leadership and change programs following M&A, procurement or strategic business transformation transactions. He is a member and Chair Emeritus of the External Advisory Board of the Institute for Advanced Studies of the University of Miami. He has been a member of the Advisory Council for Latin America of the American Association of Colleges and Schools of Business (AACSB), of the Board of Trustees of LASPAU and of the Excellence in Practice Awards of the European Foundation for Management Development, among others.

Through the opportunity to work with many industries and countries, she has developed the ability to work in multicultural groups and have a global perspective. Her strengths are developing high-performance teams and managing complexity, strategy, innovation, and trend analysis to identify opportunities and anticipate change. Trained as an engineer with a doctorate in business administration, she was a research fellow at the Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies at Harvard University. In LaRevista, Harvard Review for Latin America, she writes in the column "Perspective in time of change". Dr. Ilie also researches and writes on higher education, business school models, MBA programs, women's entrepreneurship and leadership. In recognition of her work, she received the Women's Economic Forum's Woman of the Decade Award in Education and Leadership in Latin America and is listed in Forbes magazine's list of the 100 most powerful women in Central America and the Caribbean.

Michele Quintano is Dean of Academic Programs and Associate Professor at INCAE Business School, as well as Visiting Professor in the Marketing Department of ESADE Business School (Spain).

During the period 2002-2022 he held various positions of management responsibility in Executive Education. He was associate dean of the Executive MBAs at ESADE Business School, managing various MBA programs for senior participants, including the Executive MBA, the Corporate MBA and the Master in Marketing and Sales Management. He has also held various management and academic leadership positions in the Executive Education Unit of the same business school, where he has been interim director and executive director of the Open Enrollment Programs.

He has served as Professor of Business Management and Marketing at the University of Naples Parthenope (Italy), where for fourteen years he was a regular professor teaching Marketing, Retailing and Business Management. He has also served as Director of Management Degrees at the same university for two years.

Professor Quintano has other academic experiences at the Libera Università Internazionale degli Studi Sociali Luiss Guido Carli (Rome, Italy), where for five years he was in charge of International Marketing in the MSc (Master of Science) in International Management, and at the Wirtschaft Universität in Vienna (Austria) as a visiting professor.

He holds a PhD in Management Sciences from ESADE Business School-Universidad Ramón Llull (Spain). He holds a Master's degree in International Management from CEMS Global Alliance, an international institution that, for thirty years, has grouped together the best business schools in the world. He also holds a degree in Business Administration from the Università Commerciale Luigi Bocconi (Italy).

At ESADE Business School (Spain) in the period 2002-2022 he has held various positions of management responsibility in Executive Education.

He has been Associate Dean of the Executive MBA Programs managing several MBA Programs for senior participants.

In the Executive Education unit, he has been Acting Director of the Executive Education unit and Executive Director of the Open Enrollment Programs. He has also held several Academic Management positions in different programs of the School, including the Executive MBA, the Corporate MBA and the Master in Marketing and Sales Management.

At ESADE Business School he continues to be a Visiting Professor in the Department of Marketing. He has been a Professor at the Università di Napoli Parthenope (Italy) for 14 years. He has taught Marketing, Retailing and Business Management.

He has also served as Director of Management Degrees at the University for two years. Alberto Trejos received his PhD in economics from the University of Pennsylvania. As an academic, he has been a faculty member at Northwestern University and INCAE, where he also served as Dean and as director of the Latin American Center for Competitiveness and Sustainable Development. He has been a visiting scholar at the University of Michigan, the Institut d'Anàlisi Econòmica de Barcelona, the University of California and the Federal Reserve Bank of the United States. He has published extensively in both academic journals and practitioner media, especially in monetary theory, macroeconomics, international trade and development.

He is currently the president of Grupo Cuestamoras, and for two decades has been part of the governance (in Costa Rica and regionally) of the financial group BAC-Credomatic. He is a partner of the consulting firms CEFSA and DRP, and has provided his services to governments, international organizations and companies in 60 countries, mainly in the Americas, Europe and Africa.

In Costa Rica he was minister of foreign trade, a position from which he led the negotiation of CAFTA. He was one of the original members of the Financial System Supervisory Council and, for almost a decade, president of CINDE, the agency for attracting foreign direct investment. He participated in the design and negotiation of the Worker Protection Law, which constituted the integral reform of the pension system.

He has been a founding director of the Brenthurst Foundation in South Africa, the Democracy Lab and the advisory board of the New York University School of Public Health. He also chaired the Arias Foundation for Peace and Democracy. He has been a judge in international disputes before the World Trade Organization.

Alberto Trejos received his Ph.D. in economics with honors from the University of Pennsylvania in 1994. He has been a faculty member at Northwestern University, and a visiting professor at the University of Michigan and the Institut d Analisi Economica de Barcelona.

At INCAE he has served as dean and director of its think-tank, the Latin American Center for Competitiveness and Sustainable Development. His academic work focuses on monetary economics, macroeconomics, international economics and development.

In public policy, he served as Costa Rica's Minister of Foreign Trade, during which time he led the negotiation of CAFTA. He has also been president of CINDE, the investment attraction office, and a member of the National Council of Supervision of the Financial System. He participated in the design and negotiation of the pension system reform.

In private practice, he is a partner at CEFSA, the leading macroeconomic consulting firm in his country. He is a member of the board of directors of several important companies in Costa Rica, including the bank BAC San José, Corporación Cuestamoras, the newspaper El Financiero and the distributor DIPO.

Internationally, he has been a consultant and expert for governments, international organizations and companies in 50 countries in Latin America, Europe and Africa. He is a director of the Brenthurst Foundation in South Africa. He directs the International Council on the Economy for the President of Malawi, and is a member of the Board of International Advisors for the President of Mozambique.
