In the highlands of Guatemala, where jade-green mountains kiss the sky and ancient lakes mirror the passage of time, a quiet transformation is taking place. It is led by women—entrepreneurs, visionaries, and community builders—who, like the Ceiba tree, stand tall, deeply rooted in their heritage while reaching for the future.
The Women’s Leadership in Sustainability program invites you to step into this world, where business is not just about profit, but about purpose. In a landscape often overlooked by traditional business schools—where case studies celebrate high-growth ventures in the Global North and male entrepreneurs dominate the narrative—this experience redefines innovation. Here, in the fertile lands of Guatemala, sustainability is not a buzzword; it is the difference between depletion and regeneration, between exclusion and empowerment.
This immersive journey is not just a course—it is an awakening. Through live case studies, you will meet women entrepreneurs and indigenous leaders who have woven sustainability into the very fabric of their businesses, proving that growth and responsibility are not opposing forces but complementary strengths. You will walk the cobblestone streets of Antigua, where colonial facades hide stories of resilience; you will feel the hush of dawn over Lake Atitlán, where the volcanoes cast their reections like ancient guardians of the waters; and you will explore the industrious heart of Chimaltenango, where women-led social enterprises are reshaping the future of rural economies.

Because nowhere else does the past, present, and future of sustainable entrepreneurship come together so vividly. Guatemala is a living classroom, where the challenges of climate change, resource scarcity, and economic inequality are met with ingenuity and unwavering resilience. Nearly half of its people descend from the Maya civilization, whose traditions of communal entrepreneurship and deep respect for the land still guide business practices today. Here, the lessons are tangible: how to build an inclusive business that uplifts entire communities, to embed sustainability into decisions, and to lead with impact.
You will not simply analyze inclusive business models—you will experience them firsthand. Under the guidance of renowned academics, you will engage in deep discussions and interactive learning experiences, connecting theory with real-world applications. The program covers a broad spectrum of women-led businesses, from hospitality and gastronomy to agribusiness, footwear, and the vibrant Maya textile sector. You will witness sustainability in action through an innovative low-cost water filter initiative and participate in an interactive simulation on Guatemala’s Social Progress Index, deepening your understanding of the country’s development landscape.

You will visit farms, factories, and workshops, meeting the women who are redefining business in their communities. All while staying in two charming boutique hotels—one in the colonial elegance of Antigua Guatemala, the other in Panajachel, overlooking the serene waters of Lake Atitlán.
This is not just an academic program. It is an invitation to see women’s leadership differently—to feel it in the earth beneath your feet, in the hands of the artisans you meet, and in the dynamic exchange of ideas that will shape your own journey. It is an opportunity to step outside the familiar and into a space where business is an act of courage, sustainability is a necessity, and leadership is measured not by individual success, but by collective impact.
